Founded in 2007 by self-published author Stacey Marie Robinson, Kya publishes novels, short stories, poetry, and non-fiction articles and essays.

Kya is focused on the promotion and celebration of contemporary urban-Canadian culture and citizens, to ensure their voices are cemented in the Canadian literary market.

Kya (an African name meaning "diamond in the sky") is a Toronto-based publishing company featuring the diamonds in the Canadian publishing industry; the young urban writers. Kya is exclusively dedicated to highlighting the writings for and about urban-Canadian youth aged 18 through 25, and also featuring and supporting those invested in their enrichment and empowerment.

Kya strives to be the leading publisher of urban-Canadian texts and through continuous recruitment, will support and nurture urban writers, while maintaining high literary and publishing standards.
